Range bonus stat increases the reach of melee weapons(the bonus doesn't have to be on the weapon itself). This is a powerful modifier that allows melee players to reach enemies faster, so stacking it might have the effect of unrealistic "action at distance" where a melee weapon is applied to enemies near edge of screen.
Alternative stats: Increase movement/runspeed of character, cheaper teleportation skills, jump/leap/roll skills that instantly reduce range between player and enemy.
