Direct skill point control allows to type in number of points to spend on skills or adjust it with plus/minus signs.
This contrast with general "Spend 1 skill point by clicking the skill icon" approach of most RPGs.

Dynamic skill point spending:
More interesting approach is setting a macro that does something like "Set 20 points to Fireball" at time of battle, where fireball is needed and "Set 0 points to Fireball" when not.

Advantages: fast respec of characters, flexible skillsets and more use of all skills.
